The part that goes around the handle bars was very difficult for me to attach, but once that was done it was easy to assemble. It is very sturdy and much safter than the other one I purchased for my dog. My little dog really enjoys riding around our neighborhood in this basket.

Since it is family fun, you are going to want family interaction. Consider games, like a pack of cards, domino's, and maybe a board game like scrabble. (You could even include outdoor games.) There are lots of small games to throw in too. Don't forget paper and pencil (for keeping score). Then you can still add healthy snacks like popcorn and nuts or whatever.
Well, you already said they both are same price wise.
It seems like they both pretty much have the same features as well.
Only the Kurgo says it's collapsible for storage and it has metal supports…the Solvit doesn't mention anything like that.
Personally, I like the Solvit. It looks cute and comfortable.
The Kurgo looks like it's durable though. From the pictures it also looks like it has pockets on the front (I might be wrong) which would be nice if it actually does come with pockets…
