The rim drive ones are suppose to be quieter. I have a magnetic one that I use with one of my cheaper mountain bikes and I put a slick on it and it's not too noisy but a have to find a way to increase the resistance because in top gear I can go forever. I don't know how much wear and tear they put on a rim. If I had the money I would have gotten a fluid drive with the remote resistance adjustment. You should ask the local bike shop, some of them will have one set up to ride when things are slow.

Actually, most people who would use one of these would be using self sustaining (or at the least Sustainable) farming methods and therefore would cut out Pesticides and machines using petroleum products (or at most a rototiller). For me it wouldnt be about cutting my carbon footprint (first of all plants need C02 to survive) but it would be more about becoming sustainable and not dependent on a growing network of people to just do the basics, not wasting resources which are limited.

No, I don't think so. They are way overpriced for what it is. Autoshifting has never caught on as shifting is so simple anyway.

Even if you maintained a chain with advanced cleaning and lubing technologies, a chain won’t last more than a 1,000 miles. No freaking way. I work in a bike shop and have you ever heard of chain stretching? Again, check out the Trek Soho it has 8 speeds/belt drive.

Ignore the fact that the engine/trans weighs more than your whole truck…ignore the fact that the radiator needed to keep that bad boy cool is bigger than the front end of your truck…ignore the fact that the trans or the rear end will not fit under your truck…ignore all this and let me ask you one question……..how do you feel about 6 miles to a gallon????

Why not use greater knarloc?
On the inside of the rim you will see measurements, such as "622 x 18" printed. On my Trek bike it is right next to where it says Bontrager. Make sure you find a new wheel with this same number. The one bad thing about a thrift store wheel is that the hub, the part in the middle of the wheel that the forks attach to, may not be in good shape. If you can put the hub from your old bike into the new wheel, you'd be better off. One more thing, having two completely different tires really isn't a good idea. Tires themselves are really cheap, so if you can, just get a new wheel, and get a replacement tire that matches the back one brand new, or replace both at the same time.

I'd use a regular bike with an indoor trainer. When you feel better and it gets nicer outside you can go enjoy the scenery and weather. You want to make sure you work your arms as well and maybe look into doing some light resistance training the stronger you get. Fortunately, you can use any bike any indoor trainer. Personally, I'd go with a mountain bike so you can do multiple terrains(unlike a racing bike.) Just make sure you get a good back tire for when you use the indoor trainer.

The car will not have a clutch pedal, all the work is done electronically. There are a couple of different types of shift:
Steering wheel paddle-shifters:
Typically the right paddle is used to go up through the gears (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6), and the left is used to drop down the gears sequentially.
Stick:
Tap it forward to go up through the gears, tap it back to drop down through them.
Some semi-auto cars will have a full-auto mode available too, where no shifting at all is required. I never used that mode though when I owned a semi-auto car, I loved the paddles too much.

Dsfa is on the money. These are lower end bikes selling for much more than they should be. It's all a marketing illusion. I saw the TV infomercial – what a joke. I LMAO for the entire 1/2 hour.
The gimmick is auto shift. Like a person is too stupid to figure it out in a few minutes. And, even funnier, they don't have auto shift for the front derailleur so they call it "automax high-low function" Cyclists call it a front derailleur! For peat sakes!
I highly doubt that the auto shifting would be acceptable for anyone interested in riding much. It would select what gear ergo, what cadence you ride at. Would this bike be stronger than another bike? NO. Why would it?
If you're truly "confused" about shifting (this bike still requires you to shift the front remember) you might not want to ride a muti-speed bike at all.
Go to a couple bike shops, for the same money you'll get a better fit and a better bike for just your needs.
